The United Way Tar River Region is hosting United WE CAN food sculpture contest on Friday, October 14th starting at 3:00 at the Rocky Mount Mills Power House. Teams will be constructing sculptures from nonperishable canned, boxed items and fresh veggies. Judging will begin at 6 and awards will be given at 7:15. Collected items will go to United Community Ministries, A Touch of the Father’s Love, Truth Foundation Ministries, Tarboro Community Outreach and Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC. Community members and groups who want to make a food donation can drop off nonperishable items at the Power House on October 14th from 1 to 6. Monetary donations will be accepted also and will benefit the United Way Tar River Region “Self-Sufficiency” Impact Area.
