The Joint Veterans Committee of Nash & Edgecombe Counties will be hosting a ceremony at Jack Laughery Park in Rocky Mount on May 28th, to remember our fallen heroes. The opening ceremony will begin promptly at 11:00 AM with the entrance of the Nash Central High School NJROTC. An American flag flown over the U.S.S. Arizona memorial will be raised and lowered to the half-staff position. Sgt. Major Leo Nieves (USMC Ret.) will then perform a POW/MIA Fallen Comrades Ceremony followed by a presentation by the Department of North Carolina American Legion Chaplain, James Ervin, on “The Chapel of The Four Chaplains.” A Ceremonial rifle salute by the NJROTC and the playing of “Taps” will close the ceremony. The public is invited and everyone is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
