(2022) Episode 19 – For Tom Daniel, solving the world’s problems is as simple as looking in your own back yard, identifying what bothers you most, and working to fix it. In Tom’s case, that problem is the overpopulation of dogs and cats here in North Carolina. Tom is an equine vet by profession, and in 2006, saw that using euthanasia to solve his county’s animal overpopulation problem wasn’t actually solving anything. To him, the only way to lower the euthanasia numbers and stop overpopulation was through education and access to spay and neuter services. So, he formed a foundation to fund what would become the Sandhills Spay Neuter Veterinary Clinic. Since 2008, the clinic has performed over 90,000 no – or low-cost surgeries.
