(2022) Episode 7 – During Dr. William “Skip” Johnstone’s time as an OB/GYN in Wilmington, North Carolina, it was named the most opioid addicted city in America. He would regularly see patients under the influence at prenatal care appointments, and in 2016 he realized somebody needed to help these women. Skip founded the Tides Organization, to help pregnant women suffering from Opioid Use Disorder get back on their feet and be capable and loving mothers to their children. In New Hannover County, the program has an over ninety percent success rate. Skip is now starting a branch in Moore County, where he resides.
