As a young girl growing up in Maryland, Karen Smith was surrounded by many in the medical and scientific community. Her father was a biochemist at The National Institute of Health, and because of a rare disease, her mother was under the care of at least one doctor who would become an inspiration for Karen in her own medical career. Karen now practices family medicine in Raeford, and we’ll talk with her about how she got there, and what she is doing to help the community during this ongoing pandemic.
